Maleficio: La regla de Osha brings supernatural horror into the world of youth gangs

  • It arrives in cinemas Maleficio: La regla de Osha, a thriller that combines elements of supernatural horror with the world of youth gangs under the direction of Ángel González.

Maleficio: La regla de Osha features participation from RTVE as part of its commitment to bringing cinema closer to young audiences. The project stands out not only for its innovative theme but also for a powerful soundtrack featuring artists such as the Cádiz duo Lérica, as well as Audry Funk, West Dubai, and producer Bronquio.

Written by Ángel González together with Sara Vicente Laguna, the story is set in the present day and explores the influence and destructive power of street gangs on the lives of their members and their families. Based on this premise, the film builds a narrative in which youth crime intertwines with the occult elements of Santería, offering a new vision within the crime thriller genre.

The plot follows a young gang member who, in order to rise within his organization, is subjected to a Santería ritual by the leader of his gang. From that moment on, both he and his younger sister begin to suffer the harassment of a supernatural presence. The only chance to escape this fate lies with a social worker willing to risk her own safety to save the siblings.

The cast brings together actors with strong national and international profiles. Confirmed names include Mariela Garriga, known for her role in the Mission: Impossible saga; Blas Polidori, featured in Society of the Snow; Edgar Vittorino, linked to One Hundred Years of Solitude; and Noakis Salazar, who appeared in The Benetón Family. Also joining are Felipe Londoño, known for Entrevías and Culpa Tuya; Adil Koukouh; and trap artist West Dubai, who brings his musical background into acting.

One of the most striking aspects of Maleficio: La regla de Osha is its sound design. Producer Bronquio has composed the soundtrack, which includes collaborations with Lérica, Benidorm Fest 2024 participants, rapper Audry Funk, and West Dubai himself. Music becomes a central narrative element, where trap blends with horror to intensify the story.

With this film, Ángel González proposes a story that combines the harshness of youth reality with the supernatural, offering a fresh approach to the horror genre. The film is also part of RTVE’s strategy to promote productions aimed at young audiences, focusing on contemporary stories that connect with current interests and concerns.

The release of Maleficio: La regla de Osha on October 3 in Spanish cinemas marks the arrival of a title that seeks to open new paths in Spanish genre cinema, merging urban marginality, Santería influence, and trap music as the soundtrack of a horror story.
