Susana Abaitua stars in the series ‘Infamia’, a mystery thriller for HBO Max.
The actress from A Ghost in the Battle will play a lawyer obsessed with the mysterious disappearance of two girls in the adaptation of Ledicia Costas’ novel.

Filming of the series Infamia has begun in the Basque Country and the Community of Madrid. It is a mystery thriller starring Susana Abaitua (A Ghost in the Battle, Patria) as a lawyer who becomes obsessed with an unsolved case in a small Basque town. A new original series for HBO Max, it is an adaptation of the novel by Ledicia Costas and will premiere on the platform in 2026.
The series is directed by Spanish filmmaker Beatriz Sanchís (Nacho, Aquel) and Argentine director Agustina Macri (Miss Carbón, Soledad), based on a script by Manuel Gancedo and Eduardo Torallas, who previously worked together on another literary adaptation: the series Los sin nombre (2025). They now bring to television a six-episode series based on the first adult novel by Galician author Ledicia Costas, previously known for her children’s literature in the Galician language.
Infamia is a project led by producer Eva Cebrián through Evafilms: “Since I read Ledicia Costas’ novel, I knew this story had something very special,” says Cebrián. “It is a vibrant thriller, full of mystery and emotion, which explores the human conflicts behind suspense and keeps the viewer in constant tension.”
Jorge Bosch (Todos mienten, Citas), Jon Olivares (Patria, Los pacientes del doctor García), Ane Gabarain (20,000 species of bees, Patria), Iñigo Gastesi (Singular, La Infiltrada), Iñigo Azpitarte (Karmele, La infiltrada), Eva Llorach (Los pacientes del doctor García, Who Will Sing to You), Asier Oruesagasti (Los últimos románticos, Hay algo en el bosque), Goya nominee Kandido Uranga (Maspalomas, El Internado: Las Cumbres), and special appearance by Luis Gnecco (La máquina, Neruda) complete the cast of the series.
Infamia, a mystery in the Basque Country
The series is being filmed with participation from the Basque public broadcaster (EiTB), and is shot between Madrid and the natural landscapes of Bizkaia. The Gorbeia Natural Park, the Itxina massif, the Urkiola Natural Park, the Enkarterri region, the Urdaibai Biosphere Reserve, and the impressive Barrika Flysch, as well as the towns of Orozko, Areatza, and Trucios-Turtzioz, are part of its locations. These settings will bring to life Ura, the fictional village where the story takes place.
HBO Max also highlights the creative team behind the series: composer Aitor Etxebarria (Furia, The Burning Body) for the soundtrack, and editor Victoria Lammers (Ciudad sin sueño, La Infiltrada) for editing.
