‘Bear Claw Camp’: the adventures of two children and a talking skunk

Two nine-year-old children and a talking skunk are the protagonists of Bear Claw Camp, a family comedy set to premiere on August 29 with participation from RTVE.

Directed by Sílvia Quer and written by Daniel Rodríguez and Marta Armengol, the film stars young talents Júlia Raya and Martín Abello, alongside Anabel Alonso, Edu Soto, and Elisabet Casanovas. Carlos Latre voices Fritz, the funny and grumpy skunk who accompanies the protagonists on their adventures.

Bear Claw Camp tells the story of Maia (Júlia Raya), an imaginative and lively girl, and Jan (Martín Abello), a city boy afraid of many things, who must race against time to save a summer camp threatened by the eccentric developer Sebastián Sebastián.

To do so, they will tirelessly search for a bear they believe still lives in the valley but that no one has ever seen. In this daring adventure, they are helped by Fritz, a funny and grumpy talking skunk who joins the team to save the valley and its animals.

Bear Claw Camp is an adventure feature film that will entertain both children and adults. Together, audiences will follow the misadventures of the young protagonists and Fritz while learning the value of respect for animals and nature, the importance of teamwork, imagination, self-esteem, and the power of believing in oneself.

A technological feat in children’s cinema

The production of Bear Claw Camp has been one of the greatest technological challenges in Spanish family cinema. More than 500 professionals have participated throughout the entire creative and technical process, from early development stages to final post-production.

One of the main challenges has been the integration of computer-generated animals with an unprecedented level of realism. This hyper-realistic approach is almost unheard of in Spanish children’s cinema and positions the film as a technological benchmark within the audiovisual industry.

Each shot was carefully planned using detailed storyboards and supervised on set by visual effects specialists, ensuring a seamless blend between live action and digital animation.

In addition, true to its message of respect for the environment and wildlife, no real animals were used during filming.

Bear Claw Camp is a production by A Film About Quiet Jazz AIE, Set Màgic Audiovisual, Rodar y Rodar, Euskalreel, The Fly Hunter, and Boavista Filmes Lda, with the participation of RTVE, and will be distributed by Filmax.
